Audrey Hepburn in 1954

In 1953, William Wyler gave her her first leading film role in Roman Holiday. At the age of 24, her performance alongside Gregory Peck won her an Oscar as best actress. Her career had now been launched and the world could discover her charm and beauty, so different from the Hollywood canons of the time. In 1961, Blake Edwards’s romantic comedy Breakfast at Tiffany’s was a fresh triumph for her and, in 1964, George Cukor gave Audrey Hepburn one of her greatest roles in My Fair Lady, the film with eight Oscars. This actress and fashion icon, thanks to Hubert de Givenchy who made her his muse, was one of the 20th-century’s most elegant women.
