Early Chevreuse Pear, Traité des arbres fruitiers, Poiteau and Turpin, 1806

For the reissue of Duhamel du Monceau's Traité des arbres fruitiers in 1806, the publisher had the idea of calling on two renowned botanists and designers: Antoine Poiteau and Pierre Turpin.
In addition to its undeniable scientific quality, the main interest of this reprint lies in its 420 lithographed and enhanced with watercolour plates. The splendid illustrations and representations of the different varieties make it still today the most beautiful book published on fruits.
