Ba-Ta-Clan Dragonflye dance, circa 1920, José de Zamora

Painter and illustrator, Jose de Zamora began his artistic career in 1910 working for two Madrid magazines: Nuevo Mundo and La Esfera. Arriving in Paris in 1912, he joined the team of the most famous couturier at the time, Paul Poiret, as a stylist. From the 1920s onward, following in the footsteps of Romain de Tirtoff, he designed numerous costumes for mucic hall revues until the end of the 1950s. He also created some superb posters for the Bataclan and the Casino de Paris.
