Paris Alcazar, 1974, Erté — CINE20

Born in 1892 into an aristocratic Russian family, Erté experienced a golden childhood and the last splendours of Tsarist Russia. In 1912, he moved to Paris, frequented artistic circles, met fashion designer Paul Poiret and became his assistant. In 1915, his somptuous contract with the American magazine Harper's Bazaar, for which he delivered a cover every month for 22 years, propelled him to the rank of Art Deco icon. During his long career as a prolific and versatile artist, he moved from illustration to sculpture, from fashion designs to theatre sets, from jewellery to music hall costumes.
