Anger, Falbalas et Fanfreluches, 1925, Georges Barbier

Artist Georges BarbierGeorges Barbier was one of the most important and prolific artists of the Art Deco period. After his first exhibition at the Boutet de Monvel gallery in 1911 in Paris, he quickly reached the top of his profession, a position he held during his short life.
He was the essential fashion illustrator of Art Deco: Vogue, Le Journal des dames et des modes, Modes et manière d'aujourd'hui, Art Goût Beauté and of course La Gazette du bon ton directed by Lucien Vogel. He illustrated many luxury works in limited editions : Falbalas et Fanfreluches, Casanova, Fêtes galantes, Dessins sur les danses by Vaslav Nijinsky, Les Liaisons dangereuses or the superb Bonheur du jour.
