Gabardine dress with ruffles, Journal des Dames et des Modes, 1914

This luxurious Art Deco magazine, published from 1912 to 1914, was founded by Tommaso Antongini, secretary to Gabriele d'Annunzio, and by the journalist Jacques Nouvion.
This publication uses a formula very similar to the Journal des Dames et des Modes created by Pierre de La Mésangère in the eighteenth century. The stencilled plates were designed by many artists including George Barbier, Léon Bakst, Bernard Boutet de Monvel, Roger Broders, Jan van Brock, Umberto Brunelleschi, Etienne Drian, Paul Iribe, Charles Martin and Gerda Wegener.
