Swiss graphic artist, painter, illustrator and designer, Herbert Leupin is one of Switzerland's most prolific and talented poster artist. After a spell with Paul Colin in Paris in 1936, he returned to Switzerland and made his firts advertisements for the Basel butcher Bell and Steinfels soaps in a style strongly influenced by German New Objectivity. From the 1950s onwards, his cheerful, brightly coloured posters attracted a host of advertisers, including Bata, Coca Cola, Agfa, Rolex, Suchard and many others.
