Monte-Carlo, aviation competition, Jules-Alexandre Grün, 1909 — TOUR01

With his two emperor's names, Jules Alexandre Grün set up his studio around 1890 in the heart of Montmartre, a district where chansonniers, rapins and revellers led a merry bohemian life. He quickly became one of the pillars. Like Willette and Steinlen, Grün contributed to a number of publications, including L'Assiette au beurre, La Caricature, Le Rire, Le Courrier français and many others.

While this ensured him a comfortable income, Grün became famous in a field in which he surpassed all his colleagues: posters. La Cigale, Le Moulin Rouge, La Pépinière, La Scala, Le Casino de Paris and the Folies Bergère were all delighted with his libertine compositions, which matched the locations perfectly.

Available in 3 ready-to-be-framed sizes:
40 x 50 cm, 50 x 70 cm and 70 x 100 cm.
