After being a student at the Humbert studio, he became a friend of Georges Braque, Marie Laurencin and Francis Picabia, then, at the Cormon studio, of the “dandies” Bernard Boutet de Monvel, Pierre Brissaud and Charles Martin. Thanks to a decisive encounter with Paul Poiret, in 1911 he produced the album “Les choses de Paul Poiret vues par Georges Lepape” [Paul Poiret’s Things as Seen by Georges Lepape], a little masterpiece in the world of fine art publishing. After that, he became a loyal collaborator of this couturier who would revolutionise fashion and was thus a major player in Parisian haute couture.
