King Kong, 1933, René Péron

This poster, the French version of the film, was created by René Péron in 1933. King Kong quickly became an icon of fantasy cinema and has been adapted many times since the 1930s.

René Péron, who designed more than 2,000 cinema posters between 1925 and 1960, worked with some of the world's greatest directors: The Evening Visitors by Marcel Carné, Feast Day and Monsieur Hulot's Holiday by Jacques Tati, Stanley Kubrick, Alfred Hitchcock, Roberto Rosselini, René Clément and Max Ophuls. The only major shadow to this brilliant career as an illustrator was the poster for the despicable exhibition of 1941: The Jew and France.
