The Route des Vosges in three steps, 1925, Julien Lacaze
The main clients for posters in the early 20th century were the railways companies, to be followed as of 1910 tourist by tourist information centres. The landscape poster dominated the entire production of the 1900 to 1930 era, during which around ten Parisian artists developed a realistic graphic style that was highly repetitive but effective. Julien Lacaze, a landscape painter, engraver and lithographer, who started his career in 1910, was the great poster designer for early 20th century railways.
