Musée Grévin, luminous pantomimes, 1892, Jules Chéret

At the end of the nineteenth century, several leading figures in painting were to be found among the poster artists: Toulouse-Lautrec, Manet, Bonnard and Steinlen. But it was Jules Chéret who took first place. He was unquestionably the inventor of the modern poster.
Her style is easily recognizable, with the main character being a cheerful, elegant woman in movement and in bright colors. Nicknamed the Tiepolo of the boulevards and the Watteau of the crossroads, Jules Chéret, through his colossal production, contributed to transforming the urban landscape by bringing art to the street.
